Bahasa sebagai alat komunikasi manusia sejak awal penciptaannya harus dikembangkan mengikuti perspektif Islam. Dengan demikian, perlu adanya strategi pendidikan kesantunan berbahasa yang pegangannya berdasar kepada Al quran, Al hadist, dan nilai-nilai budaya religius di masyarakat Indonesia. Norma dan etika bukan semata-mata peraturan abstrak, tetapi telah menjadi warisan tak benda bagi peradaban bangsa.
Lebih lanjut ditegaskan,”Di dalam berkomunikasi, diperlukan kemampuan dalam memilih dan bertutur kata baik yang sesuai dengan nilai-nilai yang berlaku di masyarakat. Menurut Lakoff, bahasa merupakan alat pemersatu, karena kesantunan dapat memperkokoh hubungan keakraban dan alat mengurangi perpecahan dalam interaksi antarpersonal.”
Pernyataan tersebut diungkapkan Guru Besar di bidang Pengajaran Bahasa Arab Berbasis Nilai Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Prof. Dr. H. Sofyan Sauri, M.Pd., saat Bicara Buku tentang Kesantunan Berbahasa: Kajian Nilai, Moral, Etika, Akhlak, Karakter dan Manajemen Pentingnya Bertutur Kata Santun (Sebuah pedoman untuk menerapkan nilai dalam kehidupan bangsa) hasil kolaborasi Perpustakaan Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Republik Indonesia dengan Nurani Hati Institute di Ruang Perpustakaan Lantai 2 Gedung Nusantara ll DPR RI Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto No. 10270, Kota Jakarta Pusat, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta, Selasa (24/5/2022).
Fakta yang terjadi hari ini adalah terjadinya perselisihan akibat kebebasan tanpa nilai, ungkapnya. Sejurus dengan hal tersebut, terjadinya kesenjangan komunikasi yang memprihatinkan sehingga muncul generasi yang lepas kendali saat berkomunikasi, yang kemudian menyebabkan adanya generasi yang kehilangan jati diri.
“Ketika orang sudah menggunakan lidahnya secara bebas tanpa didasari pertimbangan moral, nilai dan agama, maka akan banyak orang tersinggung dan berselisih. Kesenjangan komunikasi kian memprihatinkan, yang menyebabkan banyaknya kekerasan, penyalahgunaan narkoba, dan tindakan kriminal di kalangan remaja,” ujarnya.
Dikatakannya, seringkali terjadi ucapan para remaja dalam berkomunikasi sehari-hari sudah jauh dari etika. Hal itu salah satunya dipengaruhi oleh perubahan perilaku berbahasa. Selain berbahasa, remaja pun telah kehilangan perilaku santun baik di keluarga, sekolah, maupun masyarakat. Padahal sikap santun merupakan citra Indonesia di dunia.
Ditegaskannya,”Kesantunan Berbahasa harus menjadi program utama bagi pembinaan pola komunikasi bangsa. Segenap warga negara harus kembali kepada pedoman agama untuk pembinaan nilai, etika, dan agama di era ketidakpastian seperti sekarang. Sementara itu, untuk membendung disrupsi di dunia pendidikan, pengaplikasian manajemen pendidikan nilai penting untuk selalu dilakukan.”
Berdasarkan hal tersebut, katanya lagi, sangat penting kiranya memiliki etika di dalam berkomunikasi. Kita harus berbicara dengan benar, berbicara dengan bahasa yang menyedapkan hati, berbicara dengan efektif, berbicara dengan baik dan pantas, berbicara dengan lembut, dan berbicara dengan kata-kata mulia.
Kesantunan Berbahasa harus mengandung prinsip kebenaran, mengandung pesan yang sesuai dengan kriteria kebenaran berdasarkan ukuran dan sumber yang jelas. Harus jujur, mengandung kebenaran apa adanya, sesuai dengan data dan realita. Adil dan baik, isinya sesuai dengan kemestiannya, tidak berat sebelah, sesuai dengan kaidah pengucapan atau bahasa. Lemah lembut, mengungkapkan kerendahan hati yang tidak merendahkan orang sehingga pendengar merasa diperhatikan, dihargai, dan dihormati.
Berbahasa harus mengandung unsur kepantasan, yang sesuai dengan tingkat atau status orang yang mengucapkan dan mendengarnya, serta harus memiliki ketegasan, jelas, tidak bertele-tele dan sesuai keharusannya. Juga mengandung penghargaan kepada orang lain atau memiliki unsur kedermawanan, kehati-hatian serta kebermaknaan atau ungkapan bahasa yang berisi.
Kembali ditegaskannya,”Kesantunan Berbahasa harus menjadi program utama bagi pembinaan pola komunikasi bangsa. Segenap warga negara harus kembali kepada pedoman agama untuk pembinaan nilai, etika, dan agama di era ketidakpastian seperti sekarang.
